In this IB French B Standard Level (SL) course, students develop their ability to communicate effectively in French while gaining insight into a variety of francophone cultures and global issues. Designed for students with some prior experience of the language, the course strengthens key skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing through interactive, real-world tasks. Students explore themes such as identity, human ingenuity and social organisation, using authentic materials and learning to express themselves confidently in a second language. French B is available as both an SL and HL course, following the same core units and themes.

What is different in taking IB French B SL online?

Students will have the opportunity to:
  • Access a structured learning environment that provides flexibility and support in equal measure.
  • Study alongside students from around the world.
  • Explore French language and culture using the latest online resources.
  • Develop organisational and digital collaboration skills.
Some things won’t be different though. Standards and expectations will be just as high as in a face-to-face classroom.

Activities and Assessment

Students are assessed through a range of tasks including written assignments, oral presentations and comprehension activities. Learning is supported with discussion forums, journals, email, and live lessons in the online classroom. Engagement and collaboration are also monitored through Pamoja’s internal assessment criteria.

To succeed in the SL course, students should plan to dedicate six to eight hours per week to their studies. *Please note: All courses offered are subject to minimum enrolment numbers.
