In this IB French B Higher Level (HL) course, students build on their prior knowledge of the French language while deepening their understanding of the diverse cultures of the francophone world. Through engaging reading, writing, listening and speaking activities, students explore real-world issues and themes such as identity, human ingenuity, and social organisation, using authentic materials and increasingly complex language.
French B HL students will develop their communication skills while also becoming more confident, fluent and culturally aware global citizens.
French B is available as both an HL and SL course, following the same core units and themes.

What is different in taking IB French B HL online?
Students will have the opportunity to:- Access a structured learning environment that provides flexibility and support in equal measure.
- Study alongside students from around the world.
- Develop digital collaboration and communication skills.
- Explore the French language and culture in a meaningful, authentic context.
Activities and Assessment
Learning is supported through written assignments, oral tasks, interactive discussions, and live lessons in the online classroom. Students are assessed against formal IB criteria through activities such as presentations, listening tasks, and literary analysis. Engagement and collaboration are also monitored through Pamoja’s internal assessment criteria. Advice from Our Teachers To succeed in the HL course, students should plan to dedicate seven to ten hours per week to their studies. *Please note: All courses offered are subject to minimum enrolment numbers. Your Pamoja point of contact will be in touch as we approach the start date if we are unable to take a course forward. *HL students will be required to purchase two e-texts (costing around £20 total).
