Overview

The IB French B Standard Level (SL) course helps students build confidence in communicating in French while exploring francophone cultures and global perspectives.
Designed for learners with some prior experience of the language, the course develops listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through interactive, real-world tasks.

Students will engage with themes such as identity, human ingenuity and social organisation, working with authentic materials to express themselves with accuracy and confidence.

French B is offered at both SL and Higher Level (HL), with the same core units and themes, adapted in depth and complexity.

Advice from our teachers

Taking IB French B SL online will enable students to:

A young woman with curly hair and glasses smiles and waves during an outdoor video call on her laptop, representing flexible online learning.

Why online?

Students will have the opportunity to:
  • Access a structured learning environment that provides flexibility and support in equal measure.
  • Study alongside students from around the world.
  • Explore French language and culture using the latest online resources.
  • Develop organisational and digital collaboration skills.

Some things won’t be different though. Standards and expectations will be just as high as in a face to face classroom.
