Overview

Our IB Theory of Knowledge (TOK) online course combines IB-authorised content with a focus on the key skills of questioning, critical reflection and considering multiple perspectives. Students learn how knowledge is constructed, examine different ways of knowing, and form evidence-based opinions that strengthen their learning across all Diploma Programme subjects.

Pamoja’s global online classrooms provide a dynamic environment for discussion, where students engage with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds. This international context not only enriches debate but also reflects the IB’s mission to foster intercultural understanding and international-mindedness.

All course materials are included, ensuring schools and students have everything they need for a structured yet flexible TOK experience.

a young man smiling while working on a white laptop and sitting on a wooden bench outside a modern building.

Why online?

Students will have the opportunity to:
  • Study alongside students from around the world.
  • Gain experience of using the latest online learning tools.
  • Regularly communicate with teachers and fellow students.
  • Take part in interactive and engaging lessons that allow them to learn, review and practice easily.
  • Practice essential 21st century skills such as digital literacy, collaboration and self-organisation.

Some things won’t be different though. Standards and expectations will be just as high as in a face to face classroom.

Activities and assessment

The course material conveys the main underpinning concepts of TOK IB and provides an environment where various aspects of these can be discussed and debated. The global online classroom naturally presents opportunities for collaboration through the development of wikis and class projects, and the participation in live lessons and discussion forums. Students are encouraged to reflect on their learning and make regular journal entries throughout the course. Summative assessments in the form of an essay, exhibition or presentation occur at the end of each unit (each six weeks). Specific time is allotted in the final weeks to complete the final essay and exhibition. Formative assessments include writing in wikis, journals and discussion forums throughout the course.
