Overview
Helping students personalise their IB pathways
The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers two distinct but complementary study programmes for students aged 16–19: the Diploma Programme (DP) and the Career-related Programme (CP). Both pathways have been designed to support students to develop the knowledge, skills and mindset they need to be successful at university, in their careers, and in life.
At Pamoja, we partner with IB schools worldwide to help them expand subject choice with high-quality online DP and CP courses, ensuring every student has the opportunity to follow the pathway that suits their ambitions.
The IB Diploma Programme (DP)
The Diploma Programme (DP) aims to develop students' breadth and depth of knowledge, so they can thrive physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically. Through this pathway, students study six subjects from across the IB subject groups, usually taking three at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL). Alongside their chosen subjects, they also complete the three required components of the DP Core: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS).
This pathway develops strong subject expertise while also building students’ ability to think critically, carry out independent research, and reflect on the connections between their studies and the wider world. The DP gives them the skills, knowledge and resilience to thrive at top universities and employers around the world.
The IB Career-related Programme (CP)
The IB Career-related Programme (CP) is designed for students who want to combine academic study with specific career-related learning. It blends elements of the IB Diploma Programme with practical pathways that prepare students for higher education, apprenticeships or the workplace, in order to connect academic study with practical, real-world knowledge application.
Through this pathway, students take at least two DP courses alongside the CP Core. The Core includes personal and professional skills, service learning, language development, and a reflective project. This pathway allows students to deepen their learning while also building their independence and confidence, and developing the career-focused skills they need for life after education.
