Our History: Expanding Access to IB Education

About our school

Transforming access to IB education through innovative online learning

Since launching our first IB DP online courses in 2009, we’ve worked in close partnership with schools to solve real-world challenges in IB education – through both structured content and courses led by our own team of teachers. Today, we support over 700 schools worldwide, helping them expand subject choice, ease staffing pressures, and deliver consistent, high-quality learning to every student.

Our journey so far

From an initial pilot project to an international school community, our growth reflects our core belief: that every IB student deserves access to the subjects they love. This timeline shows how our commitment to educational innovation and collaboration with global IB schools has shaped what we offer today.

Key milestones in our mission to support IB schools and learners

Beginnings

2009 - 2011

Pamoja is founded with a mission to deliver high-quality online education. In our early years, we partner with leading virtual schools to launch our first IB Diploma Programme (DP) courses, while also offering some Cambridge-curriculum courses. From the start, our focus is on rigour, teaching standards and widening access for IB students worldwide.

2012 - 2015

We take a major step forward by developing our own teaching model and delivery capabilities, establishing a strong educational identity. This shift enables us to iterate and improve the quality of teaching and learning while building a community of dedicated IB teachers and students.

2016 - 2017

Our singular focus is on making learning seamless for students and schools. We invest in a custom-built learning management system (LMS) that keeps the student learning experience at the centre, while ensuring technology plays a supporting role. This deliberate approach enhances teaching quality and ease of use for IB schools.

2018 - 2019

We refine our development and technology partnerships, ensuring sustainable growth and efficient operations without compromising on academic standards or teaching excellence.

Growth

2020 - 2021

As the world turns to online learning during the pandemic, enrolments surge. More IB schools choose Pamoja to give their students access to high-quality online DP courses, proving the value of a trusted, IB-approved provider with established rigour and consistency. This period also marks our joining the Faria Education Group, strengthening our educational community even further.

2022 - 2023

We align more closely with Faria’s global structure, retiring our Cambridge provision to focus exclusively on supporting IB World Schools. This sharpened focus ensures we remain at the forefront of online IB education, with academic rigour and teaching stan

2023 - 2024

We continue to refine our operations and prepare for a new phase of innovation. With a strong teaching community, rigorous course design, and a commitment to continuous improvement, we remain responsive to the evolving needs of IB schools and their students.

Looking Ahead

2025

A year of transformative change:

We unveil our School-Supported Self-Taught (SSST) Language A: Literature pathway, combining purpose-built pedagogy, IB-trained fluent teachers recruited and developed by Pamoja, and robust progress monitoring. This holistic solution equips schools and students to succeed in studying Literature in their home language.

2025

We expand our subject portfolio with three new IB Diploma Programme courses: French B HL/SL, Chinese B HL/SL, and Computer Science HL/SL. These additions give schools greater flexibility and students more opportunities to pursue their interests.

2025

We refresh our IB Psychology HL and SL courses, updating content in line with the 2025 IB curriculum. As one of Pamoja’s most popular subjects, Psychology continues to provide rigorous, engaging learning supported by our experienced IB teachers.

2025

We achieve WASC accreditation, recognising the quality and credibility of our programmes and giving schools and families added assurance in choosing Pamoja.

2025

We redesign our website, creating a more impactful and seamless user experience that reflects our global community and makes it easier for schools, students and families to explore our courses.
