1) What did you study with Pamoja?
Psychology SL online.
2) What year did you graduate the IB DP?
2023.
3) Why did you choose to do a Pamoja online course?
My school did not provide an in-person IB Psychology course, but I knew that I really wanted to study psychology in the future. A friend took this course from the very beginning of 11th grade, and that is how I found out that our school could offer it. It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
4) How has studying with us supported your future ambitions?
It helped me reaffirm that psychology is, in fact, what I want to study, as I found learning the subject enjoyable, no matter how challenging the course was. It also made me realise that I would like to train as a clinical psychologist, which is why I am also planning to study psychotherapy for my master’s.
5) What key skills has our flexible study approach helped you develop?
It definitely improved my communication skills and my study techniques, as well as my ability to write under timed conditions, not to mention critical thinking. I can already see how these skills will serve me well in my future studies and career.
6) How did engaging with our international school community help with your learning?
My Pamoja learning experience was not only interesting, but also fun, as it allowed me to communicate with people from all over the world. The discussions I had with my international classmates were very insightful, providing me with a variety of viewpoints I had never considered before. Working on my IA with a classmate from another country also taught me that doing group work at a distance can be just as useful as doing it in person, so long as the participants communicate clearly with one another.
7) What advice would you share with other students thinking about studying a Pamoja online course?
Get as much information as you can about what this programme entails because, although I enjoyed this course personally, it may not be a good fit for everybody. The Pamoja Psychology course is extremely challenging, with the fact that it is online adding another layer of difficulty, meaning that you must have good organisation skills and a strong sense of perseverance. Having said that, if you enrol in this course because of your undying interest in a particular subject, there is a strong likelihood that you will enjoy it and find it extremely helpful for your future studies and career. Whether you choose to do a Pamoja Online Course or not, I wish you the best of luck!
