“Taking an online course provides opportunities your school may not offer”

1) What did you study with Pamoja?

Psychology SL online.

2) What year did you graduate the IB DP?

DP2 (current student)

3) Why did you choose to do a Pamoja online course?

I was very interested in psychology as a subject and thought I might pursue this course at university, so taking it with Pamoja was a good option. I also loved the fact it enabled me to organize how I study and the time I devote to self-study. It provided a good fit with my independent study schedule.

4) How has studying with us supported your future ambitions?

Now that I’m in Year 2 of the course, I still find psychology incredibly interesting, but I’ve concluded that I won’t want to major in it at university. That’s because beyond understanding concepts and interpreting studies, it involves a lot of memorisation, which is something I can do well but don’t particularly enjoy. On the positive side, taking the course has given deeper insights into what the study of psychology entails, and helped me see more clearly what I’m really looking for in my academic career.

5) What key skills has our flexible study approach helped you develop?

It enabled me to organize how I study and manage the time I devote to self-study. It also helped me develop my own personal studying style and become more independent.

6) How did engaging with our international school community help with your learning?

Not answered

7) What advice would you share with other students thinking about studying a Pamoja online course?

I would tell them to really think in terms of their personality and their study habits, and have them reflect upon whether they are the kind of organized learner who can be independent from others and put a lot of individual effort into their studies. I would recommend the Psychology course to anyone with these qualities, especially if they also learn well through memorization. Taking an online course provides opportunities your school may not offer as regular courses. It will also help you in your other subjects when it comes to organization and effective studying. I would advise anyone who doesn’t have sufficient internal motivation not to take online courses, as ultimately success depends on your dedication and the time and effort you put toward reaching your goals.
