I took Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL online.
2) What year did you graduate the IB DP?
2023.
3) Why did you choose to do a Pamoja online course?
Because my school did not have the available resources to teach the course.
4) How has studying with us supported your future ambitions?
The Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL course covers quite a bit of complex mathematics seen in engineering. It showed me a considerable portion of some extremely interesting mathematical tools that will help me a lot in my future engineering career, especially in the fields of calculus, probability, and complex numbers – all areas I had not studied before starting the course.
5) What key skills has our flexible study approach helped you develop?
Time management, commitment, and perseverance. Keeping to the weekly schedule was crucial to success and it’s a skill I’ve carried forward into other aspects of my life. It helped me focus fully on my learning with the mindset of doing it for myself.
6) How did engaging with our international school community help with your learning?
The discussions were very constructive, offering many different approaches to solving mathematical problems. It was interesting to see how others thought of the topic being studied.
7) What advice would you share with other students thinking about studying a Pamoja online course?
Taking an online course might seem scary at first. After all, it is not a conventional learning format. However, with the proper mindset, you will quickly notice the advantages of an online course. You can do it almost anywhere, at any time, as long as you are within the deadline. It is also an important lesson for college and life in general: you are the one who is learning. The teacher is only there to give guidance, but you are your true "teacher". With online courses, you are free to set your own learning pace. If you did not understand something, you can go back – unlike in real life classes where there is no ’rewind’ button. If you are done with a lesson, you are free to look deeper into topics, without the limitations of a classroom. The point is, online courses give you the freedom and independence that are found in the real world. Take every chance you can get to learn. You will thank yourself later and feel proud.
