How we collaborate with Site-Based Coordinators in partner schools to support student success
Site-Based Coordinators (SBCs) are the key link in schools between Pamoja and students. Acting as a supportive face-to-face mentor for online IB Diploma Programme students, the SBC liaises with Pamoja teachers, the School Services Team (SST) and individual students to connect and maintain the network within Pamoja’s global campus.
This global campus is the virtual classroom where students, teachers, the SST and the SBC collaborate and discuss ways to improve their Pamoja experience, while learning from each other in our online international community.
How Site-Based Coordinators support students to thrive
SBCs support their students by:
- scheduling regular meetings depending on their engagement in the course
- explore their general motivational levels and provide advice and guidance
- encourage them to communicate with their teacher and classmates directly to build these important relationships.
They are proactive and transparent in communications with us about the circumstances at their school, the students taking online courses, and any potential students who will also be looking to study a subject with us. SBCs also have full access to our online learning platform, where they can get an overview of students’ engagement with their courses as well as seeing any overdue or submitted assignments, students’ grades, and course content.
Why we value our relationships with Site-Based Coordinators
The SBC is integral to the way that Pamoja communicates and builds relationships with students, their schools and parents. That’s why we see SBCs as vital additions to our extended team within schools, and we collaborate closely with them to learn from and support them.
Our Senior Leadership team regularly speak with SBCs in order to build good relationships with them and to gain key insights into their experience with us. By discussing students’ engagement levels and their experience with Pamoja, we can unique context of each of our partner schools and gain insight into how we can improve the experience for students, SBCs, school leaders and parents. This is central to our plan to continually expand our offering for IB school.
