Encouraging a positive work-life balance
Pamoja is passionate about promoting employee wellbeing through a positive work-life balance. We believe our people perform at their best when given autonomy and flexibility over their working hours.
We operate a 35-hour week, giving employees the freedom to choose their daily 7 working hours between 8am and 6pm (including an hour lunch break). We also encourage working from home when life and/or business requirements call for it! Our standard annual holiday allowance includes 25 days plus bank holidays. Those who need a little extra have the option to buy an additional 5 days per year.
To further support our focus on wellbeing, our two qualified Mental Health First Aiders run regular in-house Mental Health Awareness sessions and related workshops.
Embracing the Pamoja culture
We are incredibly proud of our vibrant workplace culture, set in a modern, open-plan office with multiple communal areas for team chats or the option to work away from your desk.
Fresh fruit, snacks and beverages are delivered weekly to our kitchen. We hold regular lunchtime socials including bake-offs, cultural food days and Monthly Mingles at our local pub.
You can even bring your furry friend to work every Four-Legged Friday, where pets are encouraged to join us in the office!
Pamoja consists of teachers around the world and employees based in our Oxford office with a variety of skill sets adapted to our departments: Academics, School Services, Product Development, Marketing & Sales, Finance, and Human Resources.
We’re also looking for part-time IB Diploma teachers who have the ability to unlock creativity and curiosity in their classroom and are passionate about helping students to succeed, encouraging them to ask questions rather than recite answers.
We welcome applications for short or longer term internships in our Oxford office and across all our departments. Our interns are undergraduates or postgraduates studying at various universities, including Oxford Brookes University and the University of Oxford.
As a Pamoja teacher I have worked in many locations: at home, in hotels, in airplanes, on beaches and even on my grandmother’s ancient PC in Belarus. My favourite one was being on a hotel balcony overlooking Cusco, Peru. I was going to Machu Picchu the next day and I was thinking to myself: I am living the life!
Not only am I the only woman in my team, but I am considerably younger than my fellow senior Academics. To me, this demonstrates that my skillset is recognised and my experiences are valued for their worth, not simply how long I had been in a previous role.
During my time with Pamoja, I have been very privileged to work alongside some amazing and highly motivated people across all departments, which has broadened my knowledge and skills set I had developed at university.
I’d been looking forward to working in the dev team as it allows me to develop skills that are easily transferable to my Computer Science degree at Oxford Brookes when I go back to uni in September 2018.

Professional development for IB teachers
Four-week summer programme
We have developed a four-week summer programme to train IB educators to teach our online IBDP courses. The programme aims to:
- clarify the expectations of online teaching
- introduce teachers to the different tools that can be used in their online classrooms
- help teachers learn how to expand the boundaries of their face-to-face classrooms
A supportive community
Our teachers communicate on a daily basis with department heads and colleagues. They have access to each of the subject and help forums and a variety of other communication channels such as wikis and blogs, as well as online meetings through Skype or Google Hangout, or webinars.
Ongoing professional development
Our professional learning community organises webinars and professional development opportunities throughout the year.
Experience and requirements
If you are interested in joining our professional learning community, please email our Careers team to ask us any questions you have about becoming a Pamoja teacher.
